FOOD INCOMPATIBLE WITH MILK

FOOD INCOMPATIBLE WITH MILK

Pairing two healthy foods is not always a healthy combination. There are many healthy foods which are incompatible with one another and when consumed together may cause various gastrointestinal problems.

Let us see which foods should not be consumed with milk.

Milk with Orange: Oranges should not be eaten with milk or one hour before or after you drink milk. The reason is that protein in milk reacts with the acid in oranges and causes solidification which impairs the digestion and absorption of milk in the body.

Milk with Chocolate: Oxalic acid is found in chocolates and protein and calcium are found in milk. So when these foods are consumed together insoluble calcium oxalate is formed which affects the absorption of calcium.

Milk and Sugar: Adding sugar into cold milk is ok. But if sugar is added into boiled milk, the lysine present in milk reacts with fructose in sugar to form toxic fructose-based lysine may cause health issues.

Milk and Juices: On drinking milk with a fruit juice, sediment of casein is produced which may cause dyspepsia.

Milk and Fruits: Milk is an animal protein in itself which when combined with certain fruits may cause acidity, fermentation in the gastrointestinal tract, and other digestive issues. According to experts, banana, which is mostly consumed with milk, should not be consumed with milk. However, there are some fruits which are sweet and buttery can be consumed with milk such as figs, mangoes, avocadoes, dates, etc.

Milk and Yogurt: According to experts and studies, milk should not be consumed with sour food like yogurt as it may cause improper digestion, bloating, etc. Furthermore, according to some experts, fermented foods should not be paired with milk as it may block energy channels of the body that may cause infections.

Milk with Medicine: The nutrients in the milk may react with medicine to form water-insoluble materials and thus may affect the absorption of the medicine in the body.

Milk and Egg: According to many nutritionists, cooked eggs can be consumed with milk, but uncooked eggs or raw eggs should not be paired with milk as it may lead to bacterial infection, food poisoning, fermentation, bloating, and biotin deficiency as the protein in eggs binds with biotin and thus prevents its absorption in the body.

Milk and Fish: Although there is no scientific evidence that milk should not be consumed with fish, you may avoid this combination as milk has a cooling effect on the body and fish has a heating effect, so when these foods are consumed together there may be a release of energies that can harm the body and cause allergies. The other reason is that both are protein-rich foods that require different types of digestive juices to digest, so when consumed together they will not be digested completely and may affect the digestive and immunity system of the body.
